Color Tips
Suggestions by Taylor Mitchem (Emerald Gypsy)
These helpful color tips come from my love of color, my degree in art, and my observations as I watch 100s of LED hoops made right before my eyes!
The White Hoop
I came up with this simple idea as my 1st LED hoops totally completed and of quality by Mad SCIentist. White is striking and is our brightest LED. I love my white hoop. It goes with every costume, makes for wonderful pictures and videos, as well as lights up my path at festivals.
I see the white hoop as accenting my dance as opposed to totally taking it over. In other words people are watching me perform and not the crazy functions of my LEDs.
But BE CAREFUL with white. Since it is the brightest of all the LEDs it should be balanced in the hoop or else your hoop will have one spot that stands out. I've seen it work in one spot on a few hoops, but usually you want to keep it balanced or all over.
So maybe you put white in 4 corners of the hoop, maybe it’s every other LED, maybe it goes in between each section of color, etc.
You can also spice up a white hoop by adding “special” LEDs in between every few white LEDs.
Just look at my ladies reppin' our white hoops on Shpongle Tour:)

The Rainbow Hoop
Ah the classic rainbow hoop. Now what type of rainbow to get? Yes, there is more than one type.
Regular- Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple
Girly- Pink, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple
Chakra- Pink, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple
Other- Whatever rainbow you would like:)
You can also add rainbow LEDs in between each color. So you would have:
Red solid, Red solid, Rainbow LED, Orange solid, Orange solid, Rainbow LED, etc…
or maybe you choose to put different “special” LEDs in between each color. Just ideas;)
The Cool/Warm themed hoops
You could think of this idea as twins, multiple circuits, or an individual hoop with either the cool or warm theme.
Cool LEDs- Blue, Green, Aqua (looks like green but a pinch softer), Purple, and UV
Warm LEDs- Pink, Red, Orange, Yellow
I’ve had customers do twin hoops one being warm and the other cool. You could also add some matching “special” LEDs in between each color on each hoop.
Here is my lady Sheauwei Pidd rockin' her warm and cool twins:)

Those are some popular themes, here are some tips about color:
Primary Colors- Red, Yellow, Blue
Secondary Colors- Orange, Green, Purple
Complimentary Colors- Red/Green, Orange/Blue, Purple/Yellow
Popular Duo Color Combos-Pink/Purple, Green/Purple, Green/Blue,Blue/Purple, White/any other color, Red/Yellow, Pink/Yellow, Pink/Red
UV- UV is like a blacklight, except there isn’t enough light to light up a whole room and make things glow. UV is a darker richer purple, while our purple LED has a hint of pink, but looks nothing like our hot pink solid LED. The UV LEDs won't appear as bright as the rest of the colors. This is because UV is at the edge of our visible spectrum and our eyes simply can't see it as well.
