Help! I’m overwhelmed!

A step by step guide on how to build your custom LED dream hoop from Hoops of Creation!

We understand that ordering a hoop from us can be confusing. We sell custom hoops for a reason. We feel like every hooper needs special attention to get a hoop that fits their needs. So we have put together a detailed guide for designing your one-of-a-kind dream hoop!

Step 1: What size hoop/hoops do you want?

Most people know this right off the bat. Others need helpful suggestions. I will tell you though that no matter how many suggestions I give you this NEEDS to be completely your decision. There is no way I can tell you absolutely what size you will be happiest with.

Remember we measure outer edge to outer edge.

Decide whether you want single, twins, minis, triplets, etc.

A rough idea of what to get:

37″ and up=beginner

 36″ and below= intermediate/advanced

Just because someone uses a 30″ hoop does not mean they are more “skilled” than someone who uses say a 36″ hoop. Often times in the hooping world we think smaller means more advanced but there is NO ABSOLUTE with hooping. Typically people do go smaller and smaller until landing on their favorite size.

One tip I do tell people when getting an LED hoop is, if you are debating on whether to get a 35″ or a 34″ or maybe a 36″ or a 35″ go with the smaller of the two sizes. You may be happier with that size for longer. This suggestion doesn’t always work for small hoops though, 30″ish and below.

You see? No absolutes here.  ;)

If you are unsure of your hoop size, you may want to email and ask for a helpful suggestion as everyone is VERY unique and different factors lead to different suggestions. We would LOVE to help you!

Step 2: Decide on tubing size/type

Here are our tubing options:

1/2″ ID 5/8″ OD Polypro- We call this 5/8″ Polypro

5/8″ ID 3/4″ OD Polypro- We call this 3/4″ Polypro

1/2″ ID 5/8″ OD HDPE- We call this 5/8″ HDPE

5/8″ ID 3/4″ OD HDPE- We call this 3/4″ HDPE

Some companies go by ID. If you ordered a 5/8″ ID hoop from another company that could be a 3/4″ hoop from us. Refer to the picture below to see our tubing compared to a ruler.

The tubing types are best described like this:

HDPE- Heavier and flimsier

Polypro- Lighter and more responsive

I always recommend polypro. It is lighter and brighter, because polypro is clear instead of a whitish color like the HDPE is. If you like heavier hoops 3/4″  HDPE is the choice for you.

5/8″ HDPE- Our thinnest, flimsiest tubing. You must know and love this tubing before purchasing it. Don’t dive into this one!

5/8″ Polypro- Super thin and light! I don’t recommend this tubing to people who haven’t owned a hoop made out of it. There are some exceptions to that though. Sometimes people use this tubing for minis, and it works out GREAT! We have several customers who just can’t get enough of our 5/8″ polypro LED hoops. They are incredibly light and fun to have.

3/4″ Polypro- Our most popular tubing. Small, light, and bright what’s not to love?! I would say probably 80% of our LED hoops are made out of this tubing. (please keep reading to learn about battery options for this tubing)

3/4″ HDPE- For people looking for a medium to heavy weight LED hoop.

Still confused on what tubing to get? Email us telling us more about what you currently use.

Step 3: Decide on battery size

*Please read our Product Details to learn about how our quality, balanced, internal batteries work.

If you choose 5/8″ tubing you will have AAA batteries installed.

If you choose 3/4″ tubing you will have a choice if we install AA or AAA batteries.

AAA- Less lit time, lightest hoop

AA- Longer lit time, heavier hoop

Refer to our weight chart for a more in depth look at what your hoop might weigh.

Still confused? Please email us. We want to hear from you!

Step 4: Decide on colors!

YAY! The fun part!!!

We have LOTS of LEDs. So let me explain how that all works.

Each STYLE of LED has a title. The styles are as follows: solid, strobe, ribbon, etc.

Some styles have different options. For example there are 1, 2, and 3 colored strobe LEDs.

Each STYLE functions the same. So a 1 color strobe will essentially have the same “gaps” or lack thereof as a 3 color strobe. The difference is only the amount of colors.

Almost ALL of our “special” LEDs appear to be a solid color when still, which is shown to you in the photographs. The exception is the flashing LEDs. We don’t mean literally solid, they are just flashing so incredibly fast your eye sees a blending of the colors. Slow Strobe LEDs are right in between the two. They are almost a solid color when still but you can kind of see each of the 3 colors it’s going through.

So take a look at our LEDs and decide which ones you like best. Remember we DO NOT charge extra for LED colors, you can choose whichever ones you would like.

Also you can be incredibly detailed in your design or you can leave some/all up to us.

I’ve had customers get two circuits with a ton of different LEDs and specify each LEDs place as well as its place compared to the LEDs on the other circuit. I’ve also had customers say "here are my favorite LEDs I don’t care what order you put them in, surprise me!"
